I wanted a remote for my new, homelink-less vehicle, and didn't want a clumsy-looking, plain old black remote stuffed somewhere in the car, nor a key-fob-like device dangling from my keys. This was the only thing I could find that seemed to fit the bill - somewhat stylish looking, and possibly mountable in a semi-visble spot. Unfortunately, the style doesn't go well with my interior (not that I'm a decorator type in the first place), but it fits perfectly upside down in the sunglasses holder near the rear view mirror. This also allows the blue proximity lights to work as my hand gets near. Aside from the looks, it's just a garage door opener. The lights are handy at night. Its not as elegent a solution as a HomeLink visor or mirror, but the cost is much less. If you need something like I did, this is your device. Seems to work great and it look stylish also. Bought to replace older model that had stopped working. I thought the blue lights might be annoying but they only come on when you are very near the unit and stay on briefly. Satisfied.

This small remote is identical to the ones supplied with my two garage door lifts. It works well from well over a hundred feet away through walls and other obstacles. It can be easily programed by a single button on the lift motor, for up to three separate doors. I keep one in each of two cars but needed one in the house for when the cars are in the garage (with remotes) and the garage is closed. The belt clip/visor clip on the back is fine and is detachable. But I need something to mount it on the wall in the house. I guess I will have to resort to double face tape.
